Top Ten Secrets to A Healthy Computer & A Happier You

There comes a time in a person?s life where no matter how much you fight it time takes its toll and we begin to slow down in how we perform our daily activities. However, in order to extend our youthful glow and energy levels it is important to eat right, exercise, and keep a positive outlook on life. Now you may ask what has any of that got to do with ?Secrets To A Healthy Computer?? Well, in a way we?re all just like a computer. If you neglect to take care of yourself you soon will cease to function properly and the many tasks that once were easy to do now take twice as long to accomplish and often require you to rest or ?reboot? after a malfunction. I can?t tell you what foods to eat or what exercises to perform because I am not a nutritionist. Although, with my experiences in the personal computer field I can share with you some tips of how to keep that rectangle box of circuitry that sits within sights range functioning at maximum performance as long as time will allow. Some important steps to follow are?. *Make certain that your computer is located in a well-ventilated area and that all air vents are unobstructed to prevent overheating and premature failure to any internal components. *Clean out the dust build-up at least every 6 months from the inside of the computer case including case vents, power supply vents, and all visible circuitry with a few cans of compressed air that can be purchased from any major computer store or electronics outlet. This will help reduce the chances of over-heating and circuitry damage. Before cleaning just be certain to always unplug the computer from the wall outlet and never physically contact the circuitry inside the computer case to prevent damage. *Be prepared for an unsuspected failure by always making backups of any important data that you do not and can not afford to lose. I personally keep updated backups of my website and even store the disks at a remote location away from my every day use computers just in case a disaster were to occur and my main computers were destroyed resulting in the need for those lost files. *Purchase and install a well known anti-virus program that can be regularly updated with the latest virus definitions and ran during boot-up to help protect your computer from being the victim of an unwanted infestation. *Every few months or so run your computer?s ?Scandisk? program followed by the ?Defragmenter? program to maximize the efficiency of your hard drive. If you are not certain of how to use these utilities and being that the steps to execute these programs varies slightly from one operating system to the other it would be easiest to simply use the ?Help? option that can be found by clicking on the START button found on your computers desktop. The START menu will open up a drop-down-box that should display the ?Help? option. By going here you can enter the keywords that deal with the answers to the subject you are searching for. *Run your computers ?Disk Cleanup? utility every other week or so. If set the ?Disk Cleanup? utility will automatically empty the recycling bin and recover some wasted disk space by removing the internet temporary files that seem to always accumulate. Again, use the ?Help? option if you are uncertain of how to perform this task. *Never smoke near a computer because the cooling fans will pull the smoke into the case where it can coat the inside parts of the computer with a residue which in turn can damage sensitive components. *Place the computer case in an area where it will not be accidentally kicked or bumped to prevent the loosening of cables and damage to internal parts. *Invest in a high quality surge protector to provide your computer and monitor against voltage spikes or ?surges? that can dramatically shorten the life of your system. Just like most items in a store, ?You get what you pay for?. So don?t skimp out on this important device! Its also not a bad idea to invest in a surge protector that includes what is called a ?Data Line Protector? which allows you to connect your telephone lines to and serves the same purpose for the telephone line to your modem just like the surge protector does for the electrical household current lines. *Finally, if you plan on being away from home for more that a few days at a time or if there is a thunderstorm brewing in your area it is a very wise decision to always unplug ALL electrical lines and modem telephone lines from your system. Even with a surge protector installed it is possible that such a large voltage spike such as one caused by a lightening strike could prove fatal to any computer system. If you follow these simple steps the outcome is a healthy computer that will stay by your side and treat you well which also results in a happier you.

Should I Throw This Computer Out ! – Part 1

Author: Robert LathanArticle Source: MiNeeds. com, where consumers get competitive bids from Web designers or Programmers. Read reviews, compare offers & save. It?s free! Article Link: http://www. mineeds. com/Upper-Marlboro/Total-Computer-Solutions-Inc/Articles/Should-I-Throw-This-Computer-Out-Part-1Tags: seo , search engine optimization , computer repair , virus removal , new computer , used computer, upgrades , computer problems , remote repair , computer diagnosisPart 1 ? Cleaning / OptimizingOk. So your computer is getting on your very last nerve. It?s slow, it takes forever to boot up, your programs are sluggish, it crashes frequently and for no reason, video and audio playback are slow and seem to ?skip?, the internet seems lethargic?. So you say to yourself ?Maybe it?s time for a new computer!? Not so fast. A new computer may not be the only answer to your problems. Your computer may just need some cleaning and optimizing or it may be in need of an upgrade. Most people don?t realize that your computer takes on added duties and responsibilities as you use it or ?it grows older. ? Every time you load a new program, or surf the web certain files are added to the registry or saved to your computer. The larger the registry gets and the more files that are on your computer directly affect how fast your computer is. There are several things that you can do to clean and/or optimize your machine. Doing this will enhance your performance. Here are some examples of things you can do to ?Clean up? your computer. If you are not familiar with these procedures or don?t feel comfortable performing them, call or contact one of the vendors listed at the end of the article and they can do this for you for a very feasible fee. 1. Uninstall unused programs ? If you go to your Control Panel and click on the Add/Remove programs icon, a list will come up that shows most of the programs installed on your machine. If you click on the name of a particular program, it will become highlighted and you can then choose to uninstall it. Uninstall anything that you really don?t use? for instance, if you used to use AOL as you internet provider and now have cable or a phone providers internet service, then the AOL program and all of it?s features are no longer needed (unless you prefer using the aol interface instead of using a standalone browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, etc. ) 2. Check for and uninstall ?stealth? programs ? I call them ?stealth? programs because a lot of times they are installed unbeknownst to the user. For example when you download the free Acrobat Reader from Adobe, there is a little checkmark that is displayed that says ?install the free Google Toolbar. ? If you don?t carefully read through all the screens, this program is installed even if you may not have particularly wanted it. Many programs that we install from the internet have ?add-ons? that may sneak by you if you are not careful?. So check for those and remove them. 3. Delete your Temporary Internet Files ? Every single time that you get onto the internet and visit a website, files are saved to your computer. The purpose of these files is to store some of the images and other portions of the page so that when you visit the site again, it loads faster because the files can be pulled from your machine. Periodically, these files should be deleted. Depending on the amount of surfing you do, these files can take up a lot of space and will thus, slow your computer down. 4. Delete unwanted/unneeded files ? In order to perform the processes that you ask your computer to perform, it uses three main components; the processor, the memory and the hard drive. The three components work in conjunction to perform any process or function that you ask the computer to perform. Deleting old, outdated, unwanted files from your computer frees up disk space which in turn allows your hard drive to perform better and will allow your computer to perform better. 5. Perform a ?defrag? ? A ?defrag? or disk cleanup goes through the sectors of your hard drive and frees up unused space and streamlines how the files that are on your computer are stored. The hard drive is checked for files that are fragmented (parts of a file in one place and parts in another) and repositions them so that they are streamlined and clustered together. This process allows your hard drive to perform better and will allow your computer to perform better. 6. Run ?MsConfig? ? Running MsConfig our computer will allow you to determine what programs and features are being started when you boot up your computer. Most times, you will find that not all of the programs that are listed are wanted or needed and, as I mentioned before, every little thing that is run or started when you turn on your computer contributes to the degradation of speed. Perform these small steps and you will see an improvement in your machines performance. Is it enough to make you want to hang on to that old machine? Well, that?s for you to decide. If so, great! If not, maybe you need to upgrade. Check out part 2 of this article where we discuss the benefits of upgrading. In the meantime, for more great answers to your computing problems?. 3 Main Important Computer Parts

Time and time again we are getting asked what is the most import part of a computer. What do I need to look at when I am buying a computer? I think that people get confused with all of the computer lingo and computer tech jargon that people use at the electronics stores when you go to buy a new computer. I have been recently to buy a new company computer and I was not sure about a new blue ray DVD burner that the computer was equipped with so I asked and got a bunch of tech talk that made no sense to me. I ended up leaving more confused than when I went in. We have all been there I understand that feeling. So let’s take it slow and look at things in a simple way and make sure that when you go to buy a new computer you can focus on these things to make sure that you are getting a quality computer. 1. The first thing that is vital to having a quality computer is the processor. To make sure that you have a good speedy computer you need to have a fast processor. Basically the processors speed is measured in Ghz. A decent computer has 2. 2Ghz or greater. A 2. 2Ghz processor that is Duo Core is very nice to work with. Something to be aware of is that as with anything the better the processor the higher the computer cost might climb. 2. The next thing of importance is the computers RAM or the computer’s memory. This is measured in GB’s (gigabytes). I would recommend with Windows Vista out there which requires a fair amount of memory that you need 4GB. You can get away with less but the more that you cut down on the computers resources the more that your computer will lag and not be able to multitask as well. 3. The final thing that is important is the hard drive space. This is also measured in GB and is the place where your files, pictures and music will be saved. With programs getting bigger and bigger and more people using their computers regularly to store family pictures and music I would recommend no less than 250GB. The bigger the better. You can never have too much storage space. If you go into the computer store with those things in mind you can almost be assured that you will get a quality computer. You will have a computer that will not be a slow one that you can use for years to come. Yes there are more to computers than just those three things but those three basics are the heart of what makes your computer.

Computers Services Tips for Getting Past Small Business Sales Barriers

Many computers services firm owners are great at talking to prospects ? until it?s time to actually sell something, and then they crumple at any sign of doubt from potential small business clients. Even if you have a great business model and have a strong handle on which type of business owner will be perfectly suited for your computer solutions, you?re not going to get anywhere if you can?t actually close the deal.   And no matter how well you?ve set up your business, you?re going to get some questions from your potential clients during the sales process. Not all prospects will be immediately sold on the value of your computer services. In order to be ready to tackle resistance from your prospective clients and make sales, you have to understand the nature of these barriers to sales. What exactly is a sales objection?Basically, a sales objection is any idea in the mind of a potential, future customer that is a barrier to closing the sale and getting your prospect to pay you for services. A sales objection can be ? Rational or irrational, Totally reasonable or totally ridiculous or A combination of all of the above. But if you want a prospect to become a paying customer ? and hopefully a long-term, steady client that will bring you the revenue you need to stay in business ? you have to overcome at least most if not all sales objections. How can you flip the tables in your favor?  There are a few strategies that can help significantly as you build your computers services company: Always pause and jot down notes, so you can keep track of each objection raised. Repeat and rephrase the objections you hear so you can make sure you understand each of them correctly. Get past the B. S. and uncover hidden agendas by continuing to ask open-ended questions that cannot be answered with a simple ?Yes? or ?No. ? The most important thing to remember as you are trying to close sales with small business prospects is that you must be focusing on selling the most compelling solution to their computer-related problems.   However, you have to keep in mind that until you can gain the trust of each prospect, your opinion and what you say you can do will not mean anything. You have to focus on building relationships ? and let these relationships evolve naturally as time progresses by following a consistent sales process if you want to break down the barriers to selling your long-term computers services. In this short article, we talked about some critical tips that can help you get past objections your prospective clients might have to your technology solutions.   Find out more about how to  profitably provide computers services to steady, high-paying clients now at http://www. “Purchasing the Perfect Computer: – Is the FIRST Time”

So you’ve finally decided it’s time for a change. No matter what advice you follow that old workhorse of a desktop computer you have has outlived its usefulness with slow loading applications and a continuous rise in operation noise. Searching for that Perfect Computer can be about as much fun as purchasing a new car and about as frustrating also when sorting through the various brands while trying to decide which “bells and whistles” best fit your needs. Besides all that trying to return something that is so large can be both inconvenient and very difficult to do. So making the right decision the FIRST time is the wise path of choice. For starters you’ll need to decide what you want to do with your computer. Are you into the video game scene or are you someone who likes to just surf the internet and occasionally do some book keeping with simple word processing software? If you’re into video games you’re going to want a machine that can handle the high level of graphics and superior sound quality. On the other hand if you’re not into all that high adrenalin stuff you can probably get by with a less expensive system. Although, if you want to stay on the safe side I would recommend going with something more “high-end” so you don’t have to spend another large chunk of change to upgrade the system you just bought. There are two basic routes you can take when purchasing a new computer. 1) Purchase a “Brand Name” Computer 2) Purchase a “Clone” Computer A “BRAND-NAME” computer is one that is manufactured by a company that is recognizable by name. Some Advantages/Disadvantages of “Brand-Name” computers include: Advantages- Customer Support- If you are experiencing problems with your computer you will have the option to contact a representative of the company that you purchased the PC from to get help in solving your problem. Customer support is probably the best reason to buy a brand-name computer. Warranty- Having a warranty is always nice since it acts as a type of security blanket for you. In case a part on your computer should fail you should be able to get the item fixed at no charge just as long as the warranty has not expired. Read and understand a company’s warranty policy BEFORE you purchase a computer from them. This way you’ll have a good understanding of the procedures to follow in case a problem should arise. Pre-installed Software- Many companies will include software packages that are all set up and ready to go for you on your computer. Although, a disadvantage of buying a brand-name computer with software pre-installed is that you usually end up with more than fits your needs and usually just results with the wasting of space on your storage device. Additional Support- Most brand-name computer companies are also able to provide you with web sites that may provide you with current software updates, user manuals, or basic troubleshooting help. Disadvantages- The use of Proprietary parts- the term Proprietary refers to products that are unique to an individual company and that company only. So if a part was to malfunction on your computer after warranty and you needed to replace it you could not just go to your local computer store and purchase any old part even if it was intended for the same function as the item that failed. You would be forced to buy the exact same item that came out of the computer or else the computer would more than likely cease to function correctly. Having to buy proprietary parts usually involves the need to place an order which means you’ll have to wait for the part to arrive or you’ll have to send your computer into the company or an authorized dealer of that company for repairs. People with a home based business would probably not be too happy with that situation at all. Integrated/On-board parts- In the computer world when you hear the word integrated or on-board it means that a particular part such as the modem or sound port where you plug in your speakers, is built-in or part of the computer main board (Also known as the Motherboard). This means that if any of these items should fail, you can’t just remove them from the computer and replace them with a new part. They are usually soldered directly to the main board and are stuck there. Although, some computers do provide a way to disable a malfunctioning device which will allow you to install your own store bought device to take the place of the broken part. From a computer technicians point of view this is not always easy to do. It just depends on what brand of computer you currently have. Meaning some are easier to work on than others. A “CLONE” computer is a clone or a copy of its brand-name counterpart with the exception that instead of company specific or proprietary parts, the items used to make a clone computer are from several different companies instead of only one. Let’s say that if you were to go to a local company that builds “clone” computers, and you tell them what you need, chances are they don’t use parts that are specific to only that type of computer like the brand-name computer companies do. This is a good thing because it means that they will probably use components that are interchangeable with many different brands and are easy to come by if needed. Some Advantages/Disadvantages of “Clone” computers include: Advantages- Cost- compared to brand-name computers the clone will generally be easier on your pocket book when purchasing one with similar features as its brand-name counterpart. This is most likely due to the money that is saved by not offering the high-end customer service. Although, that may not be the only reason for the lower prices. Easily Accessible Replacement Parts- Since the clone computer was built with parts that are not any one company specific, you can buy parts for the clone computer that can be used even if the brand is different from the one that was in the computer when you originally bought it. Note: Before you buy any parts, it is necessary to make sure that the replacement parts are compatible with your particular computer system requirements. Either consults the manual that should have came with your computer or get help from a knowledgeable friend or repairperson. Disadvantages- Warranties- Unless you purchase a service plan you will typically not have as an attractive warranty as you would with a brand-name computer company. Whatever you do just make sure you understand how long the warranty is for and as to what kind of repairs the warranty covers before you make the purchase. Customer Support- With brand-name computer companies you are usually provided with a 24-hour toll free number that you can call if you have questions or concerns with your computer. Clone computers are more than likely not going to have a 24-hour help service, but rather you will be forced to only be able to call during regular business hours. Also, it is more than likely that there will not be any one website that you can go to in order to find out information concerning troubleshooting questions you may have. For service it may be necessary to take the computer back to the store that you bought it at or you may have to do some research on the individual parts that went into the computer and visit the manufacturer’s website for troubleshooting tips. Finally, if all else fails you can certainly take what you have learned from this article and being that you know what you need now, but don’t know where to go and get that “Perfect Computer”, the best resource at your disposal are the very men and woman that work at your local electronics shop. It is their duty to help you get hold of that “Perfect Computer” that best fits your needs. All you need to do is tell them what you plan on using that computer for and they should be more than happy to help you from there.

But once you?ve finished kirkin? out or spazin out (depending on who you are), then the one and only question that really matters is finally going to hit you. ?Where can I get this computer fixed?? That is the real question, isn?t it? Well, that?s where the real problem actually begins. You see, good help is hard to find, or so they say. You could call the manufacturer of your machine. More than likely, they have a toll free number and will probably be ?happy? to help you. The only problem with that is that every person I have ever talked to who has had this type of problem has called the experience a total nightmare. That is not to say that the manufacturer technical support isn?t good and that there are people out there who have had a good experience going this route, I just don?t happen to know any of them. Usually one of two things happens; either the machine is out of warranty and that means you have to pay an arm and a leg to even get support or purchase an extended warranty (if the manufacturer offers it) or, the more common scenario, involves being on the phone for hours, usually on hold and going through multiple transfers to get to the ?right department? and then spending more time on the phone listening to a ?technician? trying to walk you through some troubleshooting. 9 times out of 10, you get someone from another country that you can?t understand very well to begin with and then, even if you do get someone whose English you can understand, since you yourself are not technical, you still have problems understanding what it is they are trying to instruct you to do. Now, let?s say that the previous option feels somewhat daunting and you want to try something else. You could always try going to one of the major retailers. There are a few problems with this method as well. First of all, Circuit City is now defunct. Not that they were all that great in this department either, from what I?ve heard, but at least you had that option. Best Buy and Geek Squad are still around but I?ve also heard some pretty scary stories about their services. In addition to the 50/50 chance that you?re taking that you will get your machine back in good working order, with all of your data intact (if your hard drive hasn?t totally died) and not be charged an arm and a leg and be upsold a slew of additional items that you really didn?t need, there?s the headache of unplugging your machine and all of it?s components and lugging it down to the store. Once it?s there, I hope you aren?t in a hurry to get it back because chances are it?s going to be there a while. Thankfully, you do have a few other options. If your computer is not totally wrecked and you can get on the internet, you have two options. You could do a search on the internet for a computer repair company in your area. The benefits of calling a local company are: 1) You have someone close by who can assist you when you need help. Whether you have a few technical questions or you need to purchase additional equipment, they will be there to assist you. 2) The larger and more established companies have technicians that can come out to your location. 3) When you need to purchase a system, a good service provider will assess your needs and recommend the right system for the tasks that you need it for. 4) The larger and more established companies have partnerships with the major manufacturers and, most times, can save you money on your purchases. 5) These companies generally will handle the warranties for your systems thus taking that burden off your hands. 6) If you choose the right company, they will be very well versed in the technical aspects of most operating systems, software programs, peripherals and networking and can, therefore assist you with the design, installation, configuration and integration of one system, a small to medium network or even a large multiple location WAN. 7) If you do need service and it is an emergency, most local companies can respond to you from 30 minutes or, at a minimum, the next day. 8) If you have a business and need a regular service provider, these companies generally offer a maintenance plan that can offer you many different options to suit your needs. These are just a few of the advantages of using a local service provider. Keep in mind that, just as with any industry, there are good and bad service providers, so choose carefully. If you happen to be in the DC / Metro area, there is a local company that offers all of the benefits that I previously mentioned and more. Total Computer Solutions, Inc. (www. tcsidc. com) has been in business for 13 years and has a great reputation for getting the job done, saving their clients money and delivering exactly what the client is looking for. Another great option, if your computer is running and you have internet access, is calling a company that does ?remote repair. ? This option is becoming ore and more popular. You don?t have to take your computer apart, pack it up and haul it to the store. You don?t even have to leave your house or office. You just call them up and tell them what your problem is (or what you think the problem might be), and they can ?remote in? (take control temporarily) of your machine and, usually within an hour (depending on the severity of your issues), they can have you back up and running. Best Buy, Geek Squad and , to name a few, offer these services. Once again, these are what I like to call major companies. If you live in the DC / Metro Area, there is a great little company called EZ-Tech 911 (www. eztech911. com) who also offers these services. They have a great reputation, as well, and their prices are lower than the aforementioned majors and they are local to the area. There you have it. The next time your computer crashes, you?re having trouble loading a driver or you suspect you have a virus; don?t throw your computer out the window, put down the sledgehammer and don?t have a hissy fit, start stomping, crying or pulling your hair out. Try calling a local provider and you?re sure to find yourself happy and humming along in no time. Was the Article Useful?I hope you enjoyed the article! Where To Buy Computer Software With A Great Software Discount

Have you ever made use of such wonderful software as Adobe Photoshop, SWISH, or any other piece of use software? Chances are that you have. Ever since the invention of the computer, the realm of software has come a long way indeed. From simple programs that allowed you to type words in and nothing more, to the sophisticated image and video editing software of today, there are few fields in which technology has progressed so rapidly.   Perhaps you got to try such software out on your friend?s computer or perhaps you obtained a free limited trial. Finding that you liked the software, you went looking to buy computer software for yourself. If this happened to you, then you were most likely shocked at the prices at which you would have to buy computer software such as Photoshop. Those prices are nothing short of ridiculous to the average consumer.   Adobe Photoshop, for example, would cost you US$700 to purchase! Such prices truly are mind-boggling, especially when you consider that you are paying for ethereal lines of code on a computer. This is the reality you have to face, however, if you wish to buy computer software.   There is an alternative to paying the full price when you buy computer software, however. That is to search out sites that offer a software discount on their products, so that you do not have to pay the full price. Of course, it can be rather difficult to find a software discount, particularly if you go looking to buy computer software in physical stores.   How many times have you seen any software discount being offered at your local computer store? Chances are those occasions were few and far between. Traditionally, computer software has not been the type of product that business owners offer discounts on, so in order to find the right software discount, you will need to search non-traditional sources. The best place for that is the internet.   There are a great many websites on the internet where you can buy computer software, and these sites usually offer a wider variety than any physical store. This is because of the nature of computer software. In physical stores, software has to be placed on a CD or DVD before it can be sold. On the internet, however, many companies have turned to offering paid downloads of popular software, guaranteeing customers the ability to download the software as and when they feel like it once they have paid for it.   At some of the larger sites, you will also find software being offered with a software discount. This will help you deal with the incredibly high price of most computer software. If you are looking to buy computer software with a software discount, then this is definitely the best alternative for you.

It is not easy to Buy computer software with a Software discount , but at Netkillersoft you will find any and all types of computer software that you could possibly want offered at prices below retail!
